This beautiful 1960ies Chinese Miniature Screen is made of four hand-painted silk panels on each side.
Scenes of mountains and trees on one side, turn it around and there are birds surrounding colorful flowers, lovingly hand-painted on each silk panel. The silk is signed by the artist and under glass with a wooden frame, probably Rosewood.
Dimensions: Single Panel: 7x 20 cm, All 30 x 20 cm when completely open

In Chinese, screens are called "pingfeng" which means to shield against the wind, a cause of disease according to traditional Chinese medical theory. In ancient China, the screen was placed near the head at night to keep drafts at bay. The number of panels in a screen could vary but never exceeded twelve panels.
